McMurry Band Membership

Membership in the McMurry Band is open to any musically qualified McMurry student, regardless of major.

Instrumental music activities include:

• Wind Ensemble
• Symphonic Band
• Marching Band (with colorguard)
• Jazz Ensemble
• Percussion Ensemble
• Chamber Music
• Private lessons on all wind and percussion instruments

Band Scholarships are available by audition, and range from $300 - $2,000 per year. You do not have to be a music major to receive a McMurry Band Scholarship, and these awards can be stacked on top of any academic scholarship you receive (click here for more information). Band scholarship auditions can be completed during your campus visit, and should be arranged through Dr. Chris Neal, Director of Bands, by calling (325) 793-3837 or emailing cneal@mcm.edu.

Auditionees should perform two contrasting etudes (region band etudes are suitable), or a Class 1-level solo (does not need to be played with accompaniment). Those auditioning to be music majors will also be asked to sightread.
