Dr. Christopher M. Neal is Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music at McMurry University, where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Chamber Winds. Additionally, he directs the Marching Band and teaches courses within the Department of Music, including Studio Saxophone, Conducting, Music Education Practicum, and Woodwind Methods. Previously, he has held positions at Temple University, Angelo State University, and Waco High School.

Neal remains active as a guest conductor, scholar, clinician, and marching band drill designer. Notable guest conducting performances include the University of Oklahoma Wind Symphony at the College Band Directors National Association Southwest District Conference, the Waco High School Wind Ensemble at the National Concert Band Festival, and in concert with the United States Coast Guard Band. Under Neal's direction, the McMurry University Wind Ensemble performed recently on the gala concert of the Intercollegiate Wind Festival in Fresno, California, and will be the only American wind band to perform at the 2008 World Conference on the International Society for Music Education in Bologna, Italy.

Neal has also given scholarly presentations at conferences of the College Band Directors National Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Popular Culture Association. Additionally, his writings have been accepted for publications in numerous books and journals, including an upcoming article to be published in the Journal of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles.
